A side set up by a 6 year old, I'm sure your waiting for the punchline but there isn’t one cause that is exactly how Betty’s Blue Boys started. The charity side set up by young fundraiser Betty-Leigh Allison.
This is a little summary of Betty-Leigh’s journey and reasons why she set up her side. During the first lockdown in 2020, she cycled for 1 mile a day for 100 days to raise money for The Garden House Hospice. Each day she wore a different football shirt donated by clubs and players all over the country from football league to non-league... including David Beckham!!
Betty started off her fundraising with the £7 she had saved for Disneyland as due to the pandemic she could not go. She has now raised £33,337.05. Betty-Leigh has had the most amazing journey along the way, she became one of the England Lion Hearts for season 20/21 alongside many other inspirational people including Sir Captain Tom Moore and Joe Wicks.
Betty-Leigh was shortlisted for the final 5 of The Young Unsung Hero of the Year by BBC Sports Personality along many other exciting things!
Determined not to stop there Betty-Leigh didn't want her fundraising journey to end, so this year she have decided to set up her very own football team called 'Betty's Blue Boys' who will be playing in many tournaments and charity games to raise some much needed funds for the Garden House Hospice.
The sides shirt is a beauty. Teaming up with the ever-reliable SportyBits. With the classic purple trunk we are already off to a winner but add in the pink paint splattered effect which I think does truly looks incredibly on the purple trunk of the shirt. The white sleeves with the pink cuffs and collar truly makes for an exceptional looking shirt and I'm sure will receive a lot of compliments whenever Betty’s Blue Boys play.
As always you can get your own version of this shirt from the SportyBits website or if your feeling incredibly generous you can help Betty-Leigh on her fundraising journey by donating to the JustGiving page.
