5 Academies To Look Out For [Part Two]

Football academies are the best place for children to fall in love with the game. They provide children with a new hobby, as well as guidance from adults who become inspirations. As time passes, the players learn how the game can impact their lives and why professional football may be a rewarding career path.

Hundreds of Premier League players started at a local academy. The academies provided a basis for their careers, as they moved on to professional clubs. These five clubs have good relationships with parents and children, and one may be the right fit for your family.

Optimum Sports Academy

Optimum Sports Academy is based in Kensington, London. It offers a range of football programs to children of school ages, giving players positive feedback and guidance in order to improve their playing styles.

The club has player development programs and age-appropriate teams who compete on a weekly basis. The teams post advertisements on social media to recruit new players. For example, its U16 team competes in the Junior Premier League this season and needed new faces ahead of the season. It posted an email address on Twitter for parents to contact.

East Soccer Base

As the name may suggest, East Soccer Base is an academy in the East End of London. It has ties to the West Ham Foundation and has another centre in Dagenham.

Three key individuals have worked hard to make East Soccer Base a strong academy for children aged between nine and 18. Founder David Mirimu owns the academy and previously set up a program for Erith and Belvedere FC; he also works as a scout for Everton. The academy’s manager, James Leon, oversees player development and is in constant contact with professional clubs. Fergal Hale-Brown is the Head of Player Development; he was a former Wales U19 goalkeeper who is now a qualified coach.

Players train twice a week and play up to three times a week, schedule permitting. Team members are notified one week in advance of a fixture, so there is always an opportunity to play.

Mass Elite

Wolves player Owen Otasowie has a lot to thank Mass Elite for. The American moved to the academy from Sunday League football, progressed through the system, signed for a few teams and eventually made his Premier League debut for Wolves.

Otasowie is one of many young and upcoming players who can attest to Mass Elite’s success. The academy hosts children aged between 12 and 17 who wish to make a career out of football. Players are cared for and educated on how to improve as players and as future professionals. The graduation rate has been very hopeful, with graduates joining teams across the English football pyramid.

Palma Foundation

The Palma Foundation has a proud history of player coaching that dates back to the 1980s. Its graduates have moved on to bigger and better things in their football careers thanks to the dedication of the staff.

Riccardo Smith, the academy’s Head of Coaching, has a strong footballing background. His older brother played professionally, although Riccard himself did not make the grade. He later earned his coaching badges and helped to build players through grassroots football. Smith has been nationally recognized for his work, and he is often regarded as one of grassroots football’s most-respected coaches.

Palma is waiting for the lockdown to finish so that training can resume. It promises an exciting, energetic atmosphere once playing returns to normal.

Crown Pro Elite

Paul Aladejare brings experience and quality to Crown Pro Elite. He has worked as a scout for Leicester City’s academy and was involved with Barnet FC last year. His work with Crown Pro Elite aims to build the academy’s playing style and ethos.

Aladejare takes inspiration from Barcelona’s attacking, technically-gifted style and adapts it into Crown’s team. He emphasizes that teamwork is important in winning games, and he wants players to learn from each other. His philosophy has led to the academy’s strong ability of helping players to make career-changing moves.
